OLD JULY 2001

July 26, 2001

I was surfing around and I saw that SIDESHOW Toys Inc is selling a R. Lee Ermey figure. He played Jimmy Lee Farnsworth in Fletch Lives. The toy's face looks very detailed and looks just like him. Too bad he dont come with a Bible Land sign (but it does talk). He is in a military outfit. You can pre order one now for $35.00. Click here to check it out .Also Amoktime has them for $29.99. I emailed them about making Fletch dolls...Since it is Universal...If i can convince them, I'll let you all know what they say... "Besides I liked his teeth" -Fletch

Speaking of Fletch Lives, a new portion on the Fletch Lives Script is up (section 4). Fletch signs the paper work for Belle Isle.

John broke this news in the message board with some clever internet searching. It appears that Chevy Chase will be in the movie "Orange County" due out January 11, 2001. From what I can find it's an MTV movie about a guidance counselor who mistakenly sends out the wrong transcripts to Stanford University under the name of an over-achieving high schooler.

The newest section on the Fletch Lives script is up (bottom of section 3). In this one Fletch meets Calculus...

Also has anyone received their order from the new FLETCH STORE? if so let me know your thoughts on the merchandize. If you have not ordered yet... What are you waiting for? Rush over there an pick up a shirt, hat, mug or anything else you may want.

Fletch news has been REALLY dead recently. I've been searching and searching and just cant find much of anything.

David Shaw and humbercomedy2000 let us know that Chevy recently did a speaking engagement in Toronto last week. He mentioned that Fletch was one of his favorite roles and spoke on the upcoming movie. I really wish Chevy would get his facts right because he spoke on the fact that Ben Affleck is being cast as Fletch. Also he mentioned that he was offered a cameo but it just "doesn't make sense." Both facts are prove that Chevy has either been misinformed or is preaching about year old rumors. Either way it is sad that he can't get it right. David is trying to get us picture from this engagement.

I also added a nice quote and information to the Where Are they Now? section that I found from Michael Ritchie.

July 14, 2001 Happy 1st Birthday to Us ALL

I'm such a proud webmaster...After one whole year, we have eclipsed all my expectations. More than 22,500 hits, over 100 visitors daily, interviews with Fletch personalities, and have established ourselves as the premiere Fletch site on the internet. In reality, we all deserve the celebration...like I've always said, we wouldn't be what we are today with the support of Fletch fans everywhere.

There is a Fletch Lives Script update (section 3)...Fletch sets his eyes on the beautiful Belle Isle.

Also, I don't know if anyone ordered any of the shirts or stuff from the new Fletch Store but I ordered a shirt from my Kurt Rambis store on Monday and I received the shirt Friday! And it looks great! Let me know if anyone orders or gets the shirts. Take a picture wearing them or with them, email me, and I'll post it on the site in the store as examples.

July 10, 2001

Hey Everyone! Good News, I made a Fletch Won Homepage Store with some great items and low low prices. Let me know if you like them. I tried to make everything as cheap as I could. Not an item over $17. Post in the message board and let me know what everyone think. There will be more items to come.

Also, Bandit sent me a picture of Chevy from long before his Fletch days. HERE is the back of the
album cover by the band Chameleon Church.  Chevy was the drummer. Enjoy.

I got an email from Michael Ritchie's son Steven Ritchie the other day. He's a producer for SPQR Films/Pulse Films. In the e-mail, he said he just wanted to let me know that this site "is by far the best Fletch site that I have been to so far and I have been to quite a few." He continued, "I would love the movie even if I wasn't (the director's son.) I will try and dig up some of the photos and stuff from the sets and pass them on to you. I have tons of memorabilia as you might imagine." I thought that was pretty cool and hope to hear back from him soon

There is a new Fletch Poll at the top of this page. The last poll "Besides Fletch, Who is your favorite Fletch Lives character?" was won by Calculus (39%). Jimmy Lee Farnsworth came in second (14%), after a strong start by T'boo Ted. One of the funniest lines I've ever read was whoever posted on the poll "Gillet is the man...give him 10 bucks and he will score!" Whoever wrote that, funny stuff. I still crack up everytime I read it. LOL!

John, over at the MooooonRiver Message Board, posted an awesome tidbit he found in an old British movie magazine called Neon. In a 1998 issue, celebrities were asked "What's your favorite Chevy Chase movie?" ...

Ben Affleck: "Fletch. Fletch is just tremendous. I still quote stuff from it: "It's all ball-bearings these days." Or "Put it on the Underhills' account" at hotels. Only rarely do they know what I'm talking about, but when they do I've met a kindred spirit. Sometimes they just walk away. I don't know whose tab they've put it on. I think Chevy Chase is a very funny man. Someone told me a story about him meeting with agents. He came in and said "I see they're making a lot of comedies these days, and I feel I should be in them."

July 5, 2001

There is a new "Zip A Dee Doo Dah" of a script update for the Fletch Lives Script (bottom of Section 2)

Also, Fletch is on TNT tonight at 2:30 AM.

July 3, 2001

Kevin Smith did an autograph signing in California for Dogma on Sunday. Later in the afternoon, Jay Mohr stopped by to see Kev. Soon after, he lead the crowd in a chant of "Jay Mohr as Fletch!" trying to sway Kevin's casting of the role. Kevin laughed at the attempt. One fan (Will Wilkins) heard Mohr sarcastically mutter "Having a non-comedian perform a comedic role... who's Jason Lee? Well, you know what... I'll see you at the box office Kevin Smith!"

Peter Lemonjello reports that on MTV Real World/ Road Rules Casting Special, there was a part of the show where "everyone that was a potential contestants for either show got to display something they held near and dear to them as an attempt to get a better view on that individual's personality. Well, One of the contestants, displayed a frame headshot of Chevy Chase, and claimed that Chevy is his idol!"
