OLD APRIL

April 27, 2001

There is a short Script Update today. I have been so swamped with papers and finals that my head is spinning. But the update has allot of cool uncut stuff in it. Check out the new addition (section 8) if Fletch can ever get that damn mini recorder right.

Speculation over at the MooooooonRiver Message Board is that now someone has picked up the Clerks cartoon. This would probably eliminate the Clerks Animated movie that was causing a ruckus in Fletchland. This seems like it clears Kevin's slate for Fletch Won. Can you feel excitement...I can.

And Finally, I have made some additions to the Aliases Section. I was curious as to who were the real people behind Fletch's crazy pseudonyms. Check it out...it'll probably catch allot of you by surprise that most of the names are actual people.

Over the last couple days I've been revamping the Fletch Lives section, trying to think of fun info for it. I think it's pretty good so far. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Our old buddy Jack attended the Chevy Chase Piano Concert he held at Duke University on the 23rd. He got to meet Chevy and will have a full report with pictures soon...but for now I'll tell you that Jack was told by Chevy that "the Blake Edward's movie, and the Dave Thomas movie "Out of Order" are no longer being made, and all he is working on now is his new series. As for Fletch he has not heard anymore than we have, and has not been approached by Smith or anyone about it."

Big news today. Tim "Alan Stanwyk" Matheson sent me a letter response to my interview. He also sent me an autographed picture. He is a BIG Fletch fan it appears. Check it out in my Interview section.

Today we start with very sad news...Jake broke this in the message board earlier today. Michael Ritchie, who directed both Fletch and Fletch Lives, has died. The end came Monday due to complications of prostate cancer. He was 62. He will be greatly missed. His work on Fletch will never be forgotten.

In a bit happier news, Chevy Chase co-hosted "Live with Regis and Kelly" on Tuesday. In my opinion, he did a GREAT job. Shades of his old self were definitely evident. Chat about it on the Mooooon River Board.

I still get e-mails from people saying Mr. Underhill is not in Fletch Lives, even though the proof of where they are is in our Fletch Lives Section. They swear it is a mistake in the credits. We've posted this before, but i figured I'd throw together this picture to prove they are in it. It shows both Mr. and Mrs Underhill dancing with their tennis rackets in the "Zippity Do Dah" dream Fletch has on the plane.

There is a new Script update (section 7) Calling ALL MATRESS POLICE!

Part 2 of the Lee World's Jason Lee Interview is up and asked him:

Chris: Kevin wants you as Fletch, you want you as Fletch, are you going to be Fletch?
Jason: It's ultimately up to Miramax at this point. Who knows, but, yes, I want to play Fletch.

Chevy Chase on Live with Regis and Kelly Tuesday (4/10/01)

Today Chevy appeared on Live with Regis and Kelly and was actually very funny. He mentioned Fletch when referring to his new sit-com. The sit-com he is developing is gonna have a character (Chevy) who is a mix between himself, Fletch, and Clark (Griswold). He also said he will be co-hosting with Kelly on Tuesday, April 17th while Regis is on Vacation. See pictures of Chevy from Regis in the Picture Section

In the DVD Petition section, I added a new cut scene from Fletch Lives of Chevy in Calculus' water bed trying to eat a sub sandwich. Sign BOTH petitions please. Or we might never get to see them. My copy of Fletch Lives gets worse and worse each time I watch it.

Whew. It's crazy that one day the world of Fletch is silent, and the next it erupts with a Chevy speaking engagement. Suddenly the Fletch World is at attention.

Chevy spoke at Harvard College and the subject of Fletch Won came up...(Thanks to hurley guy, and David Shaw)

"Chevy Chase spoke at a Harvard College Institute of Politics event today, commenting on the effect of humor on politics. After convincing the student interviewer to do the "Salute of the Three Amigos" someone asked him about a Fletch sequel. "Yes," he said, "it's already in production, or so it seems." Then he began to lament, "Hollywood is run by people in their thirties and they think I'm old...and they're wrong!" (applause) I'm not sure if this is new news, but Chevy Chase will not appear in any way in the Fletch film. They have told him that they don't want him. He agrees, "When people see me they'll think, hey, that's Fletch. What could they do, make me his father?" So we will have Ben Affleck (a choice that confounds Chevy because he feels that it is truly "his" character, himself even, and near impossible to duplicate) and no Chevy. Not even a cameo."

Lets not get alarmed just yet. As anyone who has been following Fletch Won so far knows that Chevy has his facts wrong. He thinks its already in production without him being asked. Not true. He thinks they don't want him. Not true. Kevin told me that they have not decided if they want Chevy or not. If they decide they want him, Kev thinks they can get him to do it. He also thinks Affleck has already thrown on (his nose) the Poon Band-Aid. Jason Lee is the favorite for the part now. So Chevy has been misinformed. Don't be alarmed...There is still a chance. Kevin Smith is a very smart guy. He'll know not to take Chevy's comments to heart. I'm sure he won't even start thinking about Fletch until around September.

Dark Horizon's also mention that IMDB has green lighted the production of Fletch Won. If they are basing that in the Fletch Won addition...then that is funny...because I'm the one who submitted the movie to the Database. Any registered member can submit stuff. And after they see its not a joke and confirmed, they put it up. Nothing has been "green lighted" based on IMDB. When it is given the "go ahead" the Studio will make an announcement.

Chevy will be on Live with Regis and Kelly tomorrow (Tuesday 4/10) at 9:00 EST. Not sure if it is a re-run. There were reports of him on Regis during the summer but I missed it. I will have pictures tomorrow afternoon.

Also, a Jason Lee is Fletch webpage has popped up. On it is a petition for Jason to take over the Fletch character.

There is a new script update today. After Fletch has escaped from the cops in a car, can his salute to Fred "the Dorf" Dorfman save his hide? Check out the Update in the Script section (new section 7) to find out.
